Rajasthan retain five players
Rajasthan have, reportedly, retained five players - Shane Watson, Sanju
Samson, Ajinkya Rahane, Stuart Binny and James Faulkner. All five
players were instrumental in Rajasthan finishing third in the last
season.
Despite having retained the same number of players as CSK, Rajasthan will have more money to spend in the auctions since Sanju Samson and Stuart Binny are yet uncapped. Binny, however, is a part of the ODI squad that will be touring New Zealand later this month.
Shane Watson and Ajinkya Rahane were Rajasthan's star batsmen in the 2013 season, scoring 543 and 488 runs respectively. Sanju Samson was the find of the season for them and scored 206 runs, impressing everyone with his stroke play. Binny provided them with an all round option and scored 293 runs taking 6 wickets. James Faulkner was their star bowler claiming 28 wickets at an average of 15.25 and an economy of 6.75.
Rahul Dravid is set to continue as the mentor of the side. The other notable performers for Rajasthan in the previous season included the 39-year old Australian Brad Hodge and the Caribbean sensation, Kevon Cooper, who picked 19 wickets and showed steely nerves in crunch bowling situations.
Rajasthan will have one right-to-match card in the auctions.
